Monday 23 September 2013

Dr William Austin is currently aboard the Norwegian research vessel Helmar Hansen in Arctic waters to the east of Svalbard, where he is conducting a research project to study the isotopic signature of melting Arctic glaciers in coastal waters.

The photograph shows Dr Austin (knealing) sampling water bottles attached to a CTD (conductivity, temperature, depth) instrument which has just come aboard; the photograph also shows undergraduate students studying at UNIS; from left to right: Ester Wilcox (SAMS), Kat Willcocks (Reading University), Nina Aradottir (University of Iceland), Ribanna Dittrich (SAMS) and Rachael Byrom (Reading University).
