SGSD backs the Blue Belt

Wednesday 21 March 2018

In 2016, the UK Government made what has been described as “the greatest environmental commitment by any government ever” in pledging to create a “Blue Belt” around its Overseas Territories (Sir Alan Duncan MP, FO Minister, September 2016).

The UK has pledged to protect by 2020 an area of four million square kilometres of ocean #BackTheBlueBelt.

SGSD researchers are developing plans to add to the widespread cross-party support for the Blue Belt through their Blue Carbon research initiatives; you can help by selecting the Blue Belt Charter website.
