SGSD Postgrad wins Chevening Environmental Volunteer 2016/17 award

Tuesday 11 July 2017

The School is proud to announce that Benjamin Ong has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to sustainability projects in St Andrews.

Alongside his studies on our Sustainable Development MSc, Benjamin has given up more than 100 hours of his time volunteering in various capacities with Transition University of St Andrews this year. Benjamin is an exemplar of our Sustainable Development students trying to have practical impact to complement their academic pursuits. According to Benjamin this opportunity was a key part of his decision to study at the University of St Andrews:

“In a world where sustainability is the new buzzword, I believe we need to look beyond the ‘greenwash’ and media slogans. Transition was a key factor in my decision to study Sustainable Development here in St Andrews, as it seemed a good opportunity to mix theory with practice.”
