Russo Brothers Scholarship – MA in Film Studies
We are delighted to announce the Russo Brothers MLitt Scholarship for the academic year 2017-2018. The successful applicant will receive a full Home/EU fee waiver (equivalent to £7500) for study in the MLitt programme during the coming academic year. All applications received before 1 April 2017 will be considered for the scholarship funding.
The St Andrews MLitt in Film Studies is a one-year Masters programme with some of the world’s leading film scholars in one the world’s most beautiful locations. All MLitt students take part in a foundational course co-taught by several Department staff members, where you will cover salient theoretical, analytical and historiographical approaches to cinema up close with specialists in their respective fields. In addition, students take a topic course designed to probe new directions in Film Studies. The programme culminates in a 15,000 word dissertation (Masters thesis) supervised by a staff member in the student’s chosen area of expertise. MLitt students in our department also benefit from contact with a large postgraduate cohort (currently counting 26 PhD students stemming from 5 continents). Postgraduate activities include regular research presentations by leading scholars, a prominent student-run academic journal (Frames) and a yearly postgraduate conference, as well as regular workshops, film screenings and other activities.
The deadline for scholarship consideration is 1 April 2017 (though students may continue to apply for study in the MLitt programme after this date). More information about the programme and application procedures can be found here.
