Funding Success: Shruti Narayanswamy Secures Paid Internship (SGSAH) with Glasgow Life

We’re extremely pleased to report that Shruti Narayanswamy has secured a paid internship with Glasgow Life. This is part of a very competitive SGSAH scheme and is both a really impressive achievement and a great opportunity. Shruti will be working with Dr Helen Watkins, the Research Manager for Glasgow Museums.

The project is entitled “Mapping Migrant Community Collections in Glasgow” described. According to Dr Watkins:

“We want to build up a picture of the archives and collections (both formal and informal) containing material relating to migration that are held by community groups and other organisations in Glasgow. The intention is to develop a better understanding of the rich and diverse ‘distributed collection’ that exists across Glasgow in addition to the museum and archive collections owned by Glasgow City Council and managed by Glasgow Life.

The purpose of the internship is to make contact with community groups and with statutory and third sector organisations across the city, identify the kinds of cultural assets they hold – such as objects, photographs, documents, ephemera and oral histories – and map where this material is located.”

Congratulations, Shruti!
