  2. Ensure that the equipment is stored in an area that is easily accessible for uplift**
  3. Log onto the Estates Helpdesk and complete a works request to have the equipment uplifted
  4. Attach the completed WEEE uplift form to your works request.

**Store your equipment correctly:

  • Ensure the equipment is stored in a central location (inside) which is easily accessible for uplift (you may need janitorial assistance), and does not present a fire hazard
  • Do not move equipment yourself without undertaking a manual handling risk assessment or without manual handling training
  • Do not stack computers
  • Do not cut cables or plugs from your equipment

Fridges and Freezers

Fridge freezers often contain ozone depleting CFCs which are now banned from use under specific legislation. As a consequence of this, it is a legal requirement for all fridge freezers to have their refrigerant removed by a specialised contractor. All fridges and freezers must be disposed of through Estates who will arrange for an appropriate contractor to remove and dispose the refrigerant safely.

  1. Ensure the equipment has been properly decontaminated prior to uplift
  2. Complete the  Equipment Decontamination Form (Word, 157 KB)
  3. Log onto the Estates Helpdesk and complete a works request to have the equipment uplifted.
  4. Attach the completed Equipment Decontamination Form to the works request
