Zein Sa’dedin

Education and Experience

In 2017, Zein received her BA from the University of East Anglia in English Literature with Creative Writing. Her final year dissertation consisted of a collection of bilingual poems exploring the boundaries and potential of code-switching.

Born and raised in Jordan, Zein's work syncretises both English and her native Arabic. She seeks to problematise and highlight the ways in which language can perform and facilitate political and cultural identity. Zein is particularly interested in self-hood within poetry and the construction of voice within the domestic, familial, and emotional.

Her other research interests lie in the politics of translation, pop culture, memory, and cultural trauma.

Poems featured in Breakwater Review (Issue 19, Summer 2017), Sukoon (Volume 5 – Issue I, Winter 2018), and Thawra – Ascend Special Project (Volume 1, Summer 2018).

Review of Chen Chen’s When I Grow Up I Want To Be A List Of Further Possibilities in The Scores (Issue 4, Summer 2018)
