MLitt Scripture & Theology - Update

The MLitt in Scripture and Theology has been running since 2008. It has not only introduced but deepened students’ competence in the areas of  the origins of Christian Theology, biblical hermeneutics, history of biblical interpretations, theological interpretation of Scripture, and the biblical theology of a certain theme: e.g. divine presence, Covenant.  It brings together those who start from the study of the bible and who want to consider its theology and its theological trajectories with those who have theological topics that they want to explore in the bible.

About half of the students  proceed to PhD. Of those who have done so recently or have been given places here or elsewhere, a sample of PhD topics (pursued both here and at other institutions) is illuminating: Paul Ricoeur, Hilary of Poitiers, Wisdom, Hebrews, John and OT imagery, the OT in the Book of Revelation, Paul and 'Empire'. The hallmarks of the programme are intra-disciplinarity within the theological field, offering a wide competence, and creativity as well as the setting of firm foundations.
