Research and Teaching
The School of Divinity maintains and continually seeks to advance its strong international profile as a centre of excellence in research and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Its primary expertise is as a centre engaging with theological and historical concerns, chiefly as raised and developed within the Christian tradition, its Jewish roots, and related critical scholarship.
The School's academic staff seek to address wider concerns arising within western society through the growing prominence of other religious traditions and the rejuvenation of interest in questions of 'spirituality'.
The School continues its historic role of providing high quality academic education for those within the Christian churches and develops other aspects of its contribution to the formation of citizens fitted for life in society at large, e.g., the importance of theology and the arts and contemporary debates on the relation between religion and politics, including aspects of world religions.
