Ann Loades CBE
The School of Divinity are sad to relay the news of the death on Tuesday, 6 December 2022 of Ann Loades, Honorary Professor at St Mary’s and dear friend to many of us.
Prof. Loades was a major figure in 20th- and 21st-century British theology, the first woman to receive a personal chair at the University of Durham and the second person ever to be honoured with a CBE for services to the subject. Since coming to St Andrews in 2009, she contributed significantly to the Institute for Theology, Imagination, and the Arts, supervised, and hosted many students, and also delivered the Smith Lecture in March 2022.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2023.
