How to apply
Applications for postgraduate study are made direct to the University of St Andrews on the relevant online form. Supporting documentation and reference forms are also required.
If you have any questions about the process you are welcome to contact the Director of Research Postgraduate Studies (for PhD), the Director of Taught Postgraduate Studies (for campus-based MLitts) or the Distance Learning Officer (for 'Bible and Contemporary World' single module, PGDiploma or MLitt). Their contact details are to the right of this page.
Please see the university's Research Programmes Admissions Pages for instructions on how to apply.
Applications for the PhD and MPhil may be submitted at any time but the closing date for first consideration is 14 December 2018; enquiries may be made to divinitypg@st-andrews.ac.uk.
UK and EU citizens or permanent residents who wish to be considered for Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) funding through the SGSAH AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, must first complete their online application for a place on the PhD programme, and then email a draft SGSAH application form to the Director of Postgraduate Research Studies at the School of Divinity (divpgr@st-andrews.ac.uk), to be received by 14 December 2018. We particularly welcome applications linked to our clusters of research expertise in Theology and the Arts, Religion and Politics, the Bible and its Theology, Systematic and Historical Theology, or Analytical and Exegetical Theology, or to any other area of individual staff expertise. We strongly encourage applicants to contact potential supervisors or the Director of Postgraduate Research Studies by November, to allow time for selection, creation, and revision of the SGSAH application. Full details concerning SGSAH funding, as well as the application form, can be found on the SGSAH website.
