The School congratulates Natasha O'Hear and her co-author Anthony O'Hear on the recognition of their book Picturing the Apocalypse' (Oxford University Press). The ACE/Mercers' Book Award is the only literary prize worldwide for a publication that notably advances a public understanding of the relationship between the visual arts and religious experience, beliefs and practice.

Undergraduate Internship Scheme

The University has launched an exciting new internship programme, ‘The Laidlaw Undergraduate Internship Programme in Research and Leadership’, thanks to the generous support from The Lord Laidlaw of Rothiemay.  This is the biggest UG internship programme of its kind in Scotland and is a unique opportunity for students to gain paid professional work experience, contribute to high level research in the University and benefit from an intensive leadership training course.

Students must negotiate a research proposal with an academic in their School and submit a research project proposal as part of their application.

Professor Philip Esler will be returning to his Chair of Biblical Criticism in St Mary's College in the University of St Andrews on 1st September 2009, after serving a four-year term as the first permanent Chief Executive of the Arts and Humanities Research Council ('the AHRC'), one of the seven UK-wide Research Councils that each year spend some £3 billion on research and  postgraduate support across the entire research base.
