“The idea of Can Do is to equip students with the information and space they need to have safe, in-person activities that will combat the strain of loneliness and promote good mental health.”

Students’ Association President, Dan Marshall

“Now I’m in my final year and I’ve been through the ‘Beast from the East’, five sets of strikes and a pandemic! But despite all that I have loved every minute of being in St Andrews. During the pandemic the University has had a strict but fair approach, and I’ve always felt very safe in my face to face classes.

I love the Can Do Marquee – it’s amazing. Building a gingerbread house with the Geography Society was so much fun!

As we’re not able to go home for Christmas, we’re planning a ‘Friendsmas’ and we’re looking forward to the festivities in the Can Do Marquee – especially the brunch and the reindeer!”

Morgan, fourth year BSc Biology and Geography

The Challenge

Around 20% of our students will potentially be remaining in St Andrews during the holiday period.

The solution

St Andrews Can Do Festive programme featuring everything from a 12 Days of Christmas Festive Photography competition to a plastic-free presents workshop – not forgetting a festive brunch in the Quad with reindeer.

Can you help us give these students a holiday they will never forget?
