“Avise la fin”

“Consider the end – that is the translation of those words. Take the long term view … Avise la fin is not a counsel to be cautious. It is a counsel to consider the future with courage, vision, and imagination. Today was just the first step.”

So Principal Professor Sally Mapstone advised new graduates in her Graduation address on Friday 23 June. Best of luck to all our new alumni – wherever in the world your next steps take you.

Arnold Palmer Invitational

The third annual Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament took place on Saturday 24 June under sunny skies, although a strong wind challenged the alumni, parents and friends who took to the Castle Course.

Parent Chris Meagher teamed up with Director of Residential and Business Services, Ben Stuart to win the trophy by one shot. Only two teams were under par in testing, blustery conditions, with Chris and Ben joined by second-placed Wendy David and Linda Gill. But at least Linda didn’t leave empty handed: she won the ‘nearest the pin’ challenge.

The Principal presented prizes, and concluded by thanking Saints Golf Head Coach David Watt. This rounded off a hugely successful year with the St Andrews team winning the 2017 BUCS Championship and first-year physics student Matthew Myers named British Individual Stroke Play Champion and awarded the Order of Merit.

The 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational is provisionally set for Saturday 30 June 2018. If you are interested in participating, please email us. Proceeds from the event support the Saints Golf programme.
