Travelling home at end of Semester 2
The University is providing free transport to all students returning home at the end of Semester 2 who are departing from Edinburgh airport, Glasgow airport, and Leuchars railway station.
If you have any queries regarding departure dates, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please ensure you are aware of current Scottish Government guidelines around travel before booking transport.
When selecting the time you would like to be collected from St Andrews please ensure you leave sufficient time to get to the airport or railway station.
Approximate journey times from St Andrews are listed below:
- Edinburgh airport: approximately one hour 30 minutes
- Glasgow airport: approximately two hours 30 minutes
- Leuchars station: approximately twenty minutes.
You will be collected from your University hall of residence, private accommodation or an agreed collection point. This will be specified on your confirmation email.
Transport will be unable to wait for any student who is late so please ensure you are at your collection point in plenty of time.
It is compulsory in Scotland for all passengers to wear a face-covering when travelling. You will not be allowed to board the bus or taxi without a face covering.
Travelling with others
If you are travelling with another passenger, such as a partner, the University can arrange transport for you and your passengers. There will be a small charge for any passengers.
If you will be travelling with more than two other passengers, please email the student transport team (email@example.com) who will be able to assist you further.
Fit-to-Fly Covid Clinic to open in St Andrews
St Andrews students and staff who require a Fit-to-Fly certificate before travelling will be able to access a dedicated PCR testing and certification clinic in town from 26 April to 30 May.
The University has worked with JDR Healthcare, a reputable local company, to provide a Fit-to-Fly clinic in St Salvator’s Quad, North Street, St Andrews.
Tests will cost £150 – a reduced rate for students and staff – and can be booked at JDR Healthcare. The clinic will be staffed by professional nurses.
Some countries currently insist that you take a test within 48 hours of travel, while for others it is 72. Please ensure you’re fully aware of the Fit-to-Fly requirements of your destination and your airline before booking your test.
The clinics will initially operate in the mornings and evenings only, but the company has pledged to provide further testing capacity if demand merits it.
If you have any questions about the service or how to book, our Covid Helpdesk is fully briefed and can assist you.
You are not obliged to use the St Andrews JDR service for Fit-to-Fly certification, and the Covid Helpdesk can provide contact details for other services elsewhere in Scotland.
The University will receive no income from the Fit-to-Fly clinic.
