Nineteenth Roman Military Equipment Conference
RoMEC XVIIII: Cavalry in the Roman World

Excursions

One full-day coach excursion will visit Roman military sites along the Antonine Wall.  This will include sculpture and artefact displays in the National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh) and the University Museum (Glasgow).

Conference attendees might like also to visit in their own time the small Carpow (Fife) display in the McManus Galleries, Dundee, which includes inscriptions, sculpture and ceramics, plus the best preserved piece of Roman scale armour found on any site in Europe.

St Andrews Cathedral Museum includes the St Andrews Sarcophagus bearing reliefs with some Pictish equipment details. St Andrews Castle has a broader military interest in the excavated and accessible siege-mines/counter-mines.
