Business services and contacts

The School of Chemistry has always maintained close interaction with local and multinational businesses. This has led to many important and commercial products and processes. The extent of collaboration ranges from the sponsorship of research students, for example, the SPIRIT awards, funded by Scottish companies, the Scottish Funding Council and Chemical Sciences Scotland, to setting up research labs on campus; for example, the School houses within its building the European research laboratories of Sasol Technology (UK).

The School of Chemistry welcomes approaches from local, Scottish, UK and global enterprises to collaborate on research projects, including grant applications. We also welcome requests to use our extensive analytical services.

We also collaborate with companies in our Industrial Placement programme which is part of our undergraduate MChem degree.
