Tuesday 21 February 2017
Very many congratulations to Professor Andrew D Smith in Chemistry who has just been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Andy is an organic chemist with a very active research group developing new methods in asymmetric organo-catalysis.
The Royal Society of Edinburgh is the leading learned Society of Scotland and each year it elects 60 new Fellows from across all academic disciplines, industry and cultural life in Scotland, as well as some international Fellows. Election is a recognition of academic standing as judged by peers.
Prof Stephen Gillespie in Medicine was also elected this year from St Andrews, as was Prof Neil McKeown from our EaStChem partner at Edinburgh University.
