What does your job involve ?
Steering the project portfolio at AXA Germany, coordinating the implementation of AXA Germany’s strategy, leading a highly motivated and qualified team of strategy experts, chairing and participating in committee and board meetings.
What are the best bits of your job ?
High velocity, very high responsibility, steep learning curve and internationality.
Why were you successful?
Willingness to frequently change, not only to completely new topics but also different perspectives, being open to new things as well as appreciating heterogenous opinion.
What skills/ knowledge from your degree have you found particularly helpful in this role?
Strategy toolset, HR training, but most of all: Motivation to study new things which was ignited during my Master studies.
What advice would you give to students wishing to follow the same path?
1. Find the industry that suits you, then built up industry specific knowledge which will put you ahead of potential competitors in assessment centers etc
2. Enhance your knowledge during the first years
3. Stick to the industry and build upon your knowledge advantage. Working hours: Differ a lot, but mostly it is something between 10 to 12 hrs. a day.
