What has been your route to getting your current position? |
8 months working in web design before joining Teach First |
What does your job involve ? |
Teaching maths to 11-16 year olds in a challenging school - 17 lessons a week |
What are the best bits of your job ? |
Everyday is different. I meet so many amazing people and I have been exposed to a whole different area of life by working in a challenging school. The job definitely pushes me to be my best. A job for two years and a PGCE whilst being paid. |
Why were you successful? |
It is useful but not essential to have work experience with young people, but for the most part you need to prove that you have enthusiasm, want to help people in need and are a leader. |
What skills/ knowledge from your degree have you found particularly helpful in this role? |
I need to write essays in order to gain my PGCE during the two year programme and my Philosophy degree helps me with that. |
What advice would you give to students wishing to follow the same path? |
Teach First is very hard work but also extremely rewarding. You will meet so many amazing people and I would definitely recommend it. |
