Resident assistant in boarding house, Resident Matron, Assistant Housemistress, PGDE at Strathclyde Uni, placements in Glasgow and then in Aberdeen, Teacher and Resident Tutor at Downe House School. |

Teaching 11-18 yrs old, Religious Studies, Morality, Philosophy, Theology, Pastoral work, guidance teaching, etc. |
What are the best bits of your job ? |
Amazing dialogues with young people. Getting to play a part in their education. Inspiring them to be their best selves. |
Why were you successful? |
Went with what I loved and had a crack at every opportunity. |
What skills/ knowledge from your degree have you found particularly helpful in this role? |
Everything! My pupils thrive on all of it, even the Biblical Hebrew! |
What advice would you give to students wishing to follow the same path? |
What was it like? Uncertain at times and as a result worrying. But perseverance wins the prize. Hours are pretty hefty- you take your work home with you. If you find the right school then it makes all the work and hours worth it. |
