Passport to Administrative Excellence

Want to develop your skills & improve on your knowledge?‌

This passport programme is for those working in administrative roles to develop their skills and knowledge. This training and development activities and events are planned to support staff in excelling in their roles.

Objectives

The following are the objectives for the Passport to Administrative Excellence.

  • Provide a structured development programme for administrative staff

  • Build on existing skills and knowledge

  • Raise awareness of administrative processes across the University

  • Develop new skills in a range of related areas;

  • Experience a wide variety of development activities;

  • Choose own direction by selecting a tailored learning programme

  • Complete within 30 months

Workshops

The Passport comprises a mix of core and optional training courses. All participants need to complete the core modules, and attend at least two optional courses (decided on between you and your manager).  

Participants will normally complete within 2 years but up to 30 months is acceptable.  In certain circumstances an extension to allow 3 years can be granted.  Please just let us know if you need extra time.

On completion, participants will be awarded a certificate which can be added to your CPD record. Participants also retain ownership of the passport as a learning log which they can refer to in the future.

Participants must complete all of these core workshops.

  • Customer Service Excellence

  • Dealing with Difficult Behaviour 1

  • Effective Communication

  • Environment & Culture

  • Information Matters

  • IT - minimum of 2 (one must be beyond introductory level) - course list

  • Resilience in the face of change (part 1)

  • Time Management

Optional workshops

Participants must complete 2 optional workshops - discuss these with your manager.

  • Budget Management

  • Dealing with Difficult Behaviour 2

  • Discover Your Team Role

  • Effective Report Writing

  • IT courses - additional to 2 core course list

  • Recruitment & Selection Practical - Professional Staff

  • Resilience in the face of change (part 2)

  • Taking and Producing Minutes of Meetings
