There are several types of explanation: one can explain <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">by drawing an analogy, as one can explain by dwelling on the causes (e.g. see <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">Woodward (2004)). Amongst these different kinds of explanation, in the last decade <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">philosophers have become receptive to those explanations which explain by providing <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">the\u00a0<i>reasons why<\/i> a statement is true; these explanations are often called conceptual <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">explanations (e.g. see Betti (2010), Huneman (2018)). The main aim of the paper is\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">to propose a\u00a0<\/span>logical account of conceptual explanations. We will do so by using the resources of <span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif\">proof theory, in particular the sequent calculus.
