Metaphysics Reading Group: Daniel Nolan: Time and Parsimony

18th June 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Navigation

Abstract: Parsimony principles can play a variety of roles in the philosophy of space, time and spacetime. In this paper I will suggest that almost any actually occupied view about the structure of time can benefit from, and may need to rely on, parsimony considerations: not just presentism, but also the views that spacetime is ultimately discrete, that spacetime is gunky, or even that spacetime is continuous.
