Title: Metaphysical Overdetermination
Abstract: It is widely recognized by proponents of the notion of grounding that grounding can be, indeed is, overdetermined.  Further to this, it seems safe to suppose that something of a consensus has emerged: grounding is overdetermined and there is no reason to be concerned about it.  But from a small sampling of alleged cases no such conclusions can responsibly be drawn, for without an account of when a fact is technically overdetermined, we have no way of knowing how widespread the phenomenon is. And without such an account, we are lacking an important ingredient in coming to understand when that overdetermination might be problematic.  This paper, then, aims at making a contribution to understanding the former and concludes that nothing, as regards when a fact is technically metaphysically overdetermined, is straightforward or obvious.
