Notes for Completing the Application Form - For Returning Undergraduate Students Only

To apply using this web link: e-applications you need to be a returning student of the University of St Andrews to use this process.

  • In order to apply for accommodation you will need your ID number and date of birth.
  • Once logged in the first screen is the home page, this is where you need to update your email address. Your email needs to be correct as all acknowledgments will automatically be sent to this email address. You should use your University email as there have been problems in the past with some email accounts like hotmail delivering to junk or blocking it completely.
  • After updating your email click on Applications on the left hand side of the screen and follow the prompts for the application process. Unless you have already started an application and saved it, you should select create a new application.
  • You will then be asked to choose the type of student category i.e. returning undergraduate or returning postgraduate
  • Then you will be asked to choose the type of application - single i.e. applying as an individual or Group applying with your friends. Group applications can only be made for David Russell Apartments, Agnes Blackadder Hall and Managed Properties.
  • If applying as part of group, you will asked for the Group Reference Code if one of your group has applied already, or to create a new group code if you are the first member of the group to apply. If this is the case, please remember to give this reference Code to the others in the group. You will also be asked to supply a name for your group - again please share this information with the others.
  • Finally you will be asked to choose the session. The only option is 2012/13 however, if you are only here for one semester, this information should be recorded in the "additional notes" field.
  • Click to Continue
  • Price category - this gives you a choice between catered or self-catering.

Whichever choice you make here will determine the options available in Accommodation Type, which then determines the options available in location (this is where specific residences are listed). The final sections - Start and End Dates are populated automatically to show the session dates for 2012/13.

  • Click to continue
  • Personal Preferences - there is an additional notes field on each of the following options:
    • Smoking - although the residences are all non smoking, the fact that someone smokes outside a flat, house or apartment may be a problem for a individual applicant who is sensitive to smoke.
    • Special dietary requirements - this is self-explanatory and is again useful when placing individual applicants in self-catering accommodation or in a catered residence. At this time we cannot provide Halal, Kosher or Vegan diets within the catered residence programme.
    • Disabilities - please indicate where appropriate
    • Additional Notes - this is the section for you to add a limited amount of information relevant to your application, such as room preferences, house/flat/apartment preferences; personal circumstances which should be taken into account or if you are only applying for accommodation for one semester. If there are financial reasons for your application to a particular residence then you must add a note to this effect.
  • Click to continue
  • Summary - this gives you the opportunity to review the information you have submitted. Check that you have given all relevant information, after the allocation is too late to give additional information.

  • Click to continue.

Finally you have the option to save the application at this stage without submission, however if you do proceed to submit you are asked to confirm whether you accept the Terms and Conditions pertaining to this application.  If you only Save your application it will not be processed.
