University accommodation benefits

As a returning student, you can apply to live in a specific hall of residence or University-managed property.

Our University-managed properties are in St Andrews and the surrounding area. Properties range from two-bed flats to seven-bed houses. More information on these properties will be available from Thursday 1 February to Monday 12 February 2024 on the University-managed properties page.

Students living in a University hall of residence benefit from:

  • being part of a community
  • committee events
  • safety and security
  • services, internet and insurance
  • all-day support from Monday to Sunday
  • group applications for David Russell Apartments and Fife Park, and Agnes Blackadder Hall
  • an alcohol-free flat at David Russell Apartments
  • a one-semester contract for Study Abroad students
  • meals on a catered contract
  • the University night bus.

Students living in a University-managed property benefit from:

  • fixed-term contracts    
  • group applications                    
  • affordable rents                
  • a fully furnished and equipped property
  • insurance
  • safety and security
  • quick response and assistance to maintenance issues and requests
  • out-of-hours staff availability
  • advice, help and information from University staff.

University-managed property residents do not pay a deposit and do not require a guarantor.

You can apply for accommodation as a returning student from Monday 5 February 2024.

Application deadline

Midnight on Monday 12 February 2024.

Information on how to apply for accommodation for the 2024-2025 academic year, will be available from mid-January on the undergraduate accommodation page.
