600th anniversary publications
As we celebrate our 600th Anniversary we add to our wealth of literature four new books examining the history of the University, the town and some of its treasures.
Fifty of the finest artefacts owned by the University of St Andrews are featured in the book, ‘Treasures of St Andrews University Library’. This publication highlights the outstanding archive of the library, which includes some 750,000 photographs taken from the days of early photography to the present.
It features some of the collection’s most important and intriguing items including rare books, illuminated manuscripts, photographs and maps, as well as a living archive of the University itself.
Copies can be purchased from the University Library.
The Anniversary also saw the launch of three more publications exploring the history of the University and of St Andrews:
- ‘Ever to Excel’ a history of the University, by Norman Reid.
- ‘The Beginning and the End of the World: St Andrews, Scandal and the Birth of Photography’, by Robert Crawford.
- ’600 years of Book Collecting’ (limited edition box set), produced by the University Library.
