How to Follow the Story

If you want an overview suitable for a general reader, then just follow the links labelled Next (but not this particular Next, which is just an example).
If you want more details of the science underlying the story, then follow the Next links, but also loop out to visit the links indicated by the label Science stuff. These are scattered throughout the story at appropriate places. They mainly deal with the biomechanics and neurobiology of grasshopper jumping.

I do not give many references in the body of this site, but a selected bibliography is available at the end.
