Beta Version
You can DOWNLOAD the next beta version 7.1.7 of DataView. The new DataView version should overwrite previous versions without any problem, so long as the previous version is later than 5.01. If it is earlier than that, you should uninstall it manually through the Control Panel.
You can DOWNLOAD the next beta version 4.1 of KlustaWin. IMPORTANT NOTE: you MUST uninstall any previous version of KlustaWin manually (i.e. through the Control Panel), since the new version will not recognize the existence of the previous version.
What do I mean by Beta Version?
I add features to DataView on an incremental basis, but I do not release a new version for each addition. However, there comes a point where there are enough additions to be (hopefully) useful, but not all features are complete. The Beta version is at this stage. I am releasing it so that people who want the new facilities can have access to them, but with the caveat that not all features that are present in the software are yet fully functional.
Important - so far as I am aware no features produce a "wrong" result, but not all features produce any result at all, and the on-line help and tutorial might not match the software exactly.
Known problems:
The data acquisition feature is not yet complete. You are welcome to try it out, but you should not rely on it as your primary acquisition source.
Instructions
- Click the download link above.
- Choose to Save the file beta_dataview.zip to your desktop (or any
other known location)
- Before installing DataView you must manually uninstall any previous version of DataView earlier than v 5.0.1. Later versions do not need to be manually uninstalled. If you have a licensed version of DataView do NOT delete the installation DataView folder, which contains your license
file.
(You uninstall a program by selecting it from the list in the Add/Remove Programs
dialog accessed from the Control Panel, which is displayed from the Settings
command of the Start button.)
- Double-click the file beta_dataview.zip to extract its contents.
Alternatively, right-click the file and select Explore to reveal its contents
(setup.exe and DataView.msi).
- Double-click setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.
- You can now delete the file beta_dataview.zip.
- You should also download the file kw_setup.exe and run it to install KlustaWin (see below) if you have not done so previously.
- If you want to re-install the earlier version of DataView, you should uninstall this version using the Add/Remove Programs
dialog accessed from the Control Panel - the installer will not allow an earlier version to overwrite a later version.
New Features
- Recording. A facility for recording data using DataTranslation Open-Layers compatible acquisition boards has been added.
- Scope View. The Scope View interface has been substantially upgraded, with axes and grid lines displayed. The average facility now allows raw data and the s.d. envelope to be shown superimposed on the average. Two cursors are now available. The data values from individual traces can now be shown by hovering the mouse over them.
- Event histogram analysis. A facility to show and/or fit a PDF from a mixture of up to 4 different components has been added. The distributions can be Gaussian, exponential or Poisson. The Y axis can now be scaled to show the actual counts, the natural log of the counts or the square root of the counts. A special display showing the X axis on a logarithmic scale allows easier analysis of exponential distributions.
- Trace amplitude histogram. The distribution of data values can be displayed in a histogram, and a mixture of up to 4 Gaussian (normal) components can be fitted to the data.
- Waveform Autocorrelation and Crosscorrelation. It is now possible to perform correlation analysis on raw trace waveforms, as well as the pre-existing event correlation facility.
- Sojourn (Dwell-Time) Analysis. Channel kinetics can be investigated through sojourn analysis. This allows a fit of up to 4 exponential components to event open and closed time distributions. The data can be shown on a sqrt(Y) : log(X) display.
- Dummy data files. Event-only files with dummy data can be constructed by the user.
- Event-only active. Data files can be shrunk by setting traces to be inactive outside of events. Inactive data sections are not stored, so this can reduce the size of files with substantial regions of inactivity.
- Show/Hide inactive data sections. Inactive data sections can be shown as greyed traces, or hidden completely.
- Quick measurements: The Analyse: Measure box facility enables quick measurements to be made from the display
- Dot/line display. Individual traces can be set to display as dots or lines.
- Quick measurement: The Analyse: Measure box facility provides a way of making rapid measurements from the display.
- Event Time filter: You can now filter events by maximum as well as minimum on duration.
- Read CSV files. Text files in comma-separated value (csv) format can now be read directly.
- DataQ files. DataView can read DataQ wdq files using the DataQ-supplied ActiveX control.
- Interface changes. Various interface changes have been implemented to try to improve useability/consistency.
