The founders of the first conference were Dr. Ailsa Hall (SMRU) and Dr. Kate Grellier (Lighthouse Field Station, now SMRU Ltd). Since then, the conference has been a regular date in spring (usually before the European Cetacean Society Annual Meeting) with students attending from all over the UK. The conference is a forum for students to present their research and discuss it in a relaxed environment. External speakers usually run workshops or discuss topics of interest (see previous years' conference programs for examples). And, of course, it's an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends! |
