Committee Members

President: Ashley Bryant

Ashley is a third year Social Anthropology student. She has been interested in the Tibetan cause since hearing the Dalai Lama speak five years ago. In May 2007, she traveled to Tibet and was able to see first hand the problems facing the Tibetan people. Tibet is one of the most beautiful places she has visited and she found the people to be incredibly compassionate and warm, despite the oppression they face daily. She hopes that Tibetans will someday be allowed to live autonomously and wished the rest of the world would try to understand and help their plight.

Vice President: Caroline Lloyd

Caroline is a fourth year English and French student. A School trip to work in Tibetan refugee camps in Nepal sparked her interest in Tibetan culture and its plight and working with such smiley children in the childrens' villages had a profound impact. She hopes to visit Tibet in the near future, and wishes that one day, Tibetans in exile will have the freedom to return to their country, to practice their beliefs in freedom.

Secretary: Anna Marie Burslem

I am a second year French and Spanish student. I grew up in Nepal just south of the border from Tibet and my parents worked there for two years. I only had the chance to visit them once but I was struck by the beauty of Tibet and it's people. Ever since I've been able to understand the situation there I've wanted to change it. Not enough people know what is happening because it is such a secluded country, I feel it is our duty to change that. I believe in Free Tibet and hope that one day Tibetans will live in the peace that they deserve.

Treasurer: Patrick Olden

Publicity: Alex Co

Alex was first immersed in the Tibetan and the Tibetan Buddhist culture while reading a book entitled the Jewel Tree of Tibet. After a few months and more readings on Tibetan Buddhism, he volunteered to teach English in a monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal for 5 weeks to experience the monastic life and to get his questions about Tibetan Buddhism answered. He now has a growing interest in learning more about the Tibetan Medical System.
