Extensive use is made of Communications and Information Technology
in the teaching of the course, including the WebCT virtual learning environment.
- Discussion-board
-
Members of the class have exclusive, password-protected, access to a
dedicated electronic discussion-board contained within the WebCT element of this website. This facility is used to record the outcome of seminar discussions and to provide an additional opportunity for engaging further with the issues raised.
- Electronic Mail
- The class also has a collective e-mail address. Messages sent
to sovrus@st-andrews.ac.uk
are circulated automatically to all members of the class. (However, please
note that the HTML mail-to facility - directly using the above link - is
not available from open-access terminals.)
- Class Directory
- Individual e-mail addresses of members of the class are listed in the class E-mail
Directory. The directory is password-protected.
- Student Web Pages
- Students with HTML skills may create their own Web pages relating to the course within the WebCT element. (IT Services provide on-line instructions for creating Web pages, and offer Web-authoring workshops.)
- Training
- At the beginning of the course, training is available in the general
use of the campus network and the WebCT element in particular.
