Sound the 600th

St Andrews has challenged young composers to sound the 600th, an initiative which has attracted great interest across Britain.

The premier group of its kind in St Andrews will realise the shortlisted works in a special concert on the 21st April 2011.

Big Competition, Big Prize

The winner will recieve a £1000 prize as well as the honour of having their piece performed throughout the University's 600th celebrations.

In order to contribute to the celebrations of the University's 600th anniverary, the University of St Andrews Music Society commissioned three compositions as part of a competition to encourage talented young composers across the United Kingdom.

We are delighted to be able to confirm that the winner was Mark David Boden with Six Degrees.
