Ian Howard (born 1952)
Drago, about 1994
Ian G Howard was born in Aberdeen. He studied at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art from 1970 to 1975.
Howard's work looks at symbols and imagery from medieval and Renaissance art. This image is of a dragon-like creature and drago is the Italian word for dragon. Ian Howard exhibits his work internationally. The mythical image of a dragon can be seen in many ancient cultures including Norse, Chinese and Greek. In astronomy, the constellation Draco represents a dragon.
