Childcare Costs

The University is part of the Busy Bees Childcare voucher scheme. This is a salary sacrafice scheme which allows you to exchange vouchers for childcare places.

In addition, you may also qualify for Child Tax Credits. Tax Credits are payments from the Government if you are responsible for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you.

The University of St Andrews, in conjunction with Computershare Voucher Services has introduced a more flexible way to meet the costs of your childcare, under which part of your wages or salary can be given up or “sacrificed” in exchange for Childcare Vouchers. Within specified limits, these vouchers are non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance contributions and therefore represent a saving for employees who receive them as part of their total employment package. The Childcare Vouchers received are then exchanged, in whole or part, for the childcare services you use.

More information can be found by visiting the Computershare Voucher Services website: www.computersharevoucherservices.com or telephoning them on 0845 0021111 and by reading the University information sheet available here: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/staff/money/Salaries/Childcarevoucherscheme/
