Black Hedgehog
"Il ecurio ne utiquam sodom est."

The Black Hedgehog is a household currently consisting of one member. As such, it is still very much under development. It is a household open to all, particularly for people who perhaps are not so serious at re-enactment beyond the good feast and swordfight, or the occasional song or craft. Thus it provides a haven for those who have little knowledge of or interest in particular regions and centuries. Perhaps the household will develop into something more specific given time and new members, but there are certain advantages to having a household which lacks spatial and temporal boundaries. The members are able to create generic garb and use concepts from the entire mediaeval time period for stories, craftwork and persona. Furthermore, this household also has the devious ability to form cunning alliances with practically anyone else during household tourneys and other such competitions.
As the Black Hedgehog grows, my hope is that it will develop its own character as a household. With a commonly found mascot and a cheeky Latin slogan, there is still a broad world of options and opportunities for the household to expand into. Perhaps the future history books of the Shire will regard this household as a band of opportunistic mercenaries; maybe a group of creative bards and crafters not constrained by the limits of one time period and culture; or possibly just a friendly group of not-so-serious re-enactors who simply enjoy the mead at feasts and the chance to hit people with a stick. Any or all of these is still possible for the Black Hedgehog. All it needs is more people to join.
