Website details(More accuratly titled: This is the page I hope any potential employers will notice) Just about every line of code on this website has been hand written by me, the banners along the top are nearly all 'photoshopped' to extend them from the standard 800 pixels width that people usually send me, to 1025 pixels width. And a little artistic editing has been applied here and there to brighten up some of the grey skies. The only sections of code not written by me are the JavaScript photo changer (Soon to be replaced when I find time to make a php gallery), and the ldap access code for accessing the university's database to verify and identify people who sign up to the mailing list. The header and footer for every page are contained in external php files (see source code comments), ensuring that every page has exactly the same layout. Another motivation for adopting this method was to ensure that my sucsessor can easily edit pages without having to worry about disrupting the layout. The new style of the blog is a prototype that I have not had time to apply to the rest of the site yet. But it follows the same principles of having a static header and footer, with all the styling included in a css file. Again, have a look at the source code for more details. In addition to thoroughly checking every page with the w3c validators and other similar tools, this site has been checked on the following browsers/operating systems:
If you have a combination not already on this list then please email me, and tell me if everything displays properly, or not. This site was created with Crimson Editor for the php code, and then Dreamweaver for the css and general editing. Validation was done with the w3c tools, see links at the bottom of this page, and the Firefox "Html Validator" plugin.
