After 4 months of summer holidays, it is now time to start a fresh Breakaway year! Our calendar is of course fully packed with exciting events. The dates for this year's walking and weekend trips have been released and can be found here. Social events will appear here as they are planned.
If you are new to Breakaway, you might be interested to see a few pictures from last year's walks and events. We also recommend you to have a look at our equipment page.

Organised by our wonderful new social rep, Arabella. This'll take you around St Andrews to explore the town a little with the motivation of chocolate treats on the way.
It's on Tuesday 25th, meeting outside the Union at 7:30pm, and it's all for the bargain cost of £1.
I realise that this is also on the home page, but I wanted to push that photo down from the top of the page...

All positions are open, if you are interested then talk to the current position holder to get an idea of what the position entails.
And of course, there will be lots of free wine and food available.
Come along to choose who will be running Breakaway for the next 12 months...

This blog is cooooooool! Good work Patrick. And I am really gutted that we can't play on the carts at Tyndrum anymore...it was the best walk ever because of those!
Thanks to everyone who came on the trip to Braemar for helping out with washing up/clearing up and being generally cheerful. It was one of the best ever trips.

This was spotted by Anne, the mine in Tyndrum that we've walked to a few times is being reopened, as a working gold mine.

This isn't really Breakaway news, but after designing a whole new Blog system I intend to use it.
The rest of the site will slowly be converted to this new style, for the moment this section is the prototype.
So, enjoy, and leave comments if you so desire.
Hopefully the background effect will work with any modern browser, Internet explorer users, please either upgrade or get Firefox.

For those of you who have given me you names, either pay your £28 or £12 at the pub night next Tues (27th Nov) or next Wed (28th) at sign-up because no one wants to be handling money on the night and you definitely don't want to be in debt with Breakaway!

TIMINGS FOR THOSE GOING
9am-17.30 - Drinking in pubs of your own choice!
17.30-16.30 - Ma belles Cocktail deals if you so wish them.
1830 - Dinner Guests arrive for pre-dinner drinks/raffle tickets sold.
1900 - Dinner is served.
2030 - Coffee and a cappella group / DANCE only guests arrive.
2115 - Ceilidh and disco sets up.
2315 - Raffle.
2330 - Disco.
2400 - Bar closes.
0100 - Disco ends.

Hey!
Just to let you all know that Vanessa Berrie has been voted our new first year representative...so watch this space for an updated committee page.
And the date for the Adrenaline Ball (the best ball in town!) this year is 30th November so book that into your diairies and come dance the night away with Breakaway and 4 other outdoorsy clubs.
