External Committee Approval
Projects requiring approval from an external body should be submitted to the relevant body for approval prior to submission to UTREC. Please refer to the relevant web page for further information on each external approving body.
Research involving the NHS, refer to:
Local Research Ethics Committee (LREC) or Multi-Central Ethics Committee (MREC) in either Fife or Tayside.

Research involving participation of Children or Vulnerable Adults;
Research taking place in a Local Education Establishment;
Researchers intending to conduct research in Local Education Schools/Nurseries must obtain permission from the relevant Local Education Authorities (LEA) in addition to permission, from the Headteacher, to access the site. Written confirmation from both the Headteacher and LEA must be submitted with the Ethical Application Form before approval can be granted from the School Ethics Committee.
