Information for Overseas Partners
St Andrews is an established study abroad destination. Not only does the University attract degree-seeking students from all over the world, but we welcome a large number of exchange and study abroad students every semester. Some students want to experience life in a small but lively university town for the first time; others seek the familiarity of a close-knit student community but in an international setting. Many students are drawn to the cosmopolitan character of St Andrews for a truly international study abroad experience; others are drawn by the chance to explore their Scottish heritage while studying abroad. Almost all are attracted by the opportunity to become part of a University community which has thrived for 600 years while being taught by scholars at one of the UK’s leading research institutions.
Exchange and study abroad students are fully integrated into the St Andrews student community. They have access to regular undergraduate courses in Arts, Divinity and Science; they are accommodated in halls of residence alongside our degree-seeking students; and they are welcomed into all of our student societies and sporting clubs. Whether here for one semester or for four years, every student is a member of our distinctive student community.
This section of our website is designed to help colleagues at partner institutions prepare students for study abroad at St Andrews. The information under Incoming Students may be useful in this regard as well.
