Help our Promotion

We use the information provided by returning St Andrews students to promote the benefits of working or studying abroad to other students who are considering this option. As students with this experience, you know how fantastic and rewarding this opportunity can be.

Profiles

We ask all returning students to submit a short piece (around 100 words) about their time abroad. You can view these profiles on our webpages under the Student Experience pages for both outgoing and incoming students.

You may wish to focus on one or some of the following points when writing your profile:

  • the overall experience
  • the classes at a foreign University compared to St Andrews (if you were studying) or the experience of working in a foreign country
  • what aspect of living abroad did you enjoy most or did you find most special?
  • how did you deal with any challenges?
  • how will your experience abroad benefit you in the future?

The profile does not have to be formal. Although do bear in mind that is for publication on the University's website and may be used in official publications. For this purpose, the Collaborations & Study Abroad team reserve the right to proof-read and edit what is sent to us.

Photographs

We love to see any photographs of your year abroad which you may wish to accompany your profiles!

We also use your photographs for our posters which we use to promote study abroad opportunities to other students.

    • Please provide a few words of explanation, such as where the photo was taken and what it is of
    • Scenic photos are preferred, especially with you in the shot!
    • We love campus/institution pictures
    • Ask the permission of any individual over 16 featured in a close-up shot for consent as your photo may be used for publicity purposes, including the internet
    • We want to see you having a good time but not too good a time!

We also have a Photo Competition for both returning and visiting students. Further details about the competition and the prizes can be found on the Photo Competition webpage.
