Teach First

Language Courses

Studying in another European country under Erasmus (or at some of our international partners) will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to improve your language skills.  While some of our partner institutions offer courses in English, a working knowledge of the language of the country you are visiting will benefit you greatly.  Whether socialising, shopping, dealing with bureaucracy, or finding a part-time job, having some language skills will give you the confidence to make the most of your time abroad.

Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILCs)

EILCs, a European Commission supported scheme, are specialised courses in the less widely used and less taught European languages of countries participating in Erasmus.  The courses are open to Erasmus students travelling to a country with a language other than French, German or Spanish.  EILCs give Erasmus students the opportunity to study the language of the host country for 3-8 weeks, in the host country, prior to the start of an exchange programme.

For further information on these courses, please contact the CSA team.  See also the UK Erasmus National Agency site for details.

Evening Classes

Within the University, the Evening language courses offers evening classes in a variety of languages throughout the two semesters.  Courses last for 10 weeks and, depending on resources and demand, may be available from beginners to advanced level.
