Money Matters
Before applying to go abroad, it is important to think about your financial circumstances carefully. The costs involved in studying abroad vary enormously depending on location and programme, so research costs carefully and ensure you discuss your plans with your family if they are supporting your study.
Consider:
- Travel costs;
- Living costs (you may have to demonstrate you have the necessary funds to satisfy immigration requirements in certain countries);
- Opportunities to work part-time at the host;
- Funding available e.g. Erasmus or other scholarships.
Remember that while you may be eligible for a scholarship or Erasmus funding, you will be responsible for your travel and living costs and any other personal expenses.
For advice about travel costs and estimated living costs, check our partner institution profiles under Thinking About Study Abroad.
