Offer of a place

You may expect to hear from the CSA team via email within four weeks of submitting your complete application.

If you are offered a place on our Exchange or Study Abroad programmes, your offer may be unconditional (you have satisfied all of the entry requirements) or conditional (the offer email will explain the conditions you must meet before the University can make an unconditional offer).

If you apply to St Andrews through a Study Abroad Provider, you will hear our decision directly from your provider.

Please note that an offer of a place does not guarantee that you can take the courses you have listed on your application form. Your course of study will be finalised when you meet with academic Advisers during Orientation in St Andrews.  See Academic information for further details.

How to respond

Your offer of a place email will ask you to send your decision to us via email to:

saresponse@st-andrews.ac.uk

If you accept your offer of a place, you will then receive a further acknowledgement email containing more information about next steps.

Please note that we must receive your response to the offer of a place before the University can process your housing application or confirm your entry to the University.

If you apply to St Andrews through a Study Abroad Provider, your provider will inform us of your decision.

Information for Exchange and Study Abroad Entrants

Once you have accepted your offer of a place and met all conditions, you will receive an email from the Pro Dean which will inform you of your St Andrews username and give you a link to information for new students on the St Andrews website. This email is normally sent within four weeks of you confirming your offer of a place.  It is very important that you complete all of the steps mentioned on the webpages which include activating your username, applying for a student ID card, and Pre-Advising for modules.

As your arrival in St Andrews draws nearer, you will receive a further email from us inviting you to complete the online Matriculation (registration) process.  Again, it is vital that you complete this step before you arrive in St Andrews.

Congratulations!  We look forward to welcoming you to St Andrews!
