Educational Exceptions
Restricted amounts of material may be copied without a licence or written permission for non-commerical educational purposes. 'Non-commercial' refers to the specific activity rather that the institution.
The copying that is permitted includes:
- For instruction, unlimited copying by hand of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works.
- Performance of literary, dramatic or musical works, provided these are on the institution's premises and not for profit.
- For an examination or for work that is to be submitted for examination, the multiple copying and use of a work (however, the performance of musical work is not permitted)
Sound recordings may be played in the classroom for educational purposes only.
In all cases, acknowledgement of the source must be given.
