Discretionary Funds
For details on the Childcare Fund click here.
Students who have financial difficulties can apply to the Discretionary Fund. This is a fund given to us by the government to help both undergraduate and postgraduate students who may be in difficulties. We can give grants to students from this fund. The average award is £400-500.
We target certain groups of students:
- Independent students
- Students with dependants
- Part-time students
- Final year undergraduates
- Students with extra costs due to health and disability.
- Postgraduate students whose funding has ended and PSAS students.
As well as this we also aim to make awards to students who can show to us that their essential expenditure exceeds their income - particularly for housing costs.
To be eligible you must
- Be a "home student" - not European Union.
- Have taken out your full student loan entitlement - if undergraduate.
- Show evidence of financial hardship including full overdraft facilities.
We cannot pay for tuition fees from this fund or replace assessed parental contribution that is not met.
