Q: How can I get free contraception?
A: There is a choice of contraception from condoms, pills, injections and implants - all available at the Sexual Health Clinic or St Andrews Community Hospital.
Free condoms are available from Student Services (first floor Students’ Association building), The Director of Representation and Iain Cupples (first floor Students’ Association building), the Union porter at night and condom distributors in halls of residence.
Q: How can I get free emergency contraception?
A: The morning after pill is available at the Sexual Health Clinic, from your GP practice, or alternatively at any chemist.
Q: Is there a sexual health clinic?
A: There is an NHS Contraception and Sexual Health Clinic which operates in term time. This Clinic is on the 2nd Floor of the Students' Association building and the reception area is in the Student Services Office on the 2nd Floor. The clinics run:
- Every Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 4.30 pm
The clinic can provide not only contraception and sexual health advice but offers chlamydia testing and treatment and offers basic STI screening.
There is a GUM Clinic at St Andrews Community Hospital (where you can have a full STI screen). This clinic runs 10am - 1pm on a Friday. This is an appointment only clinic - telephone 01592 643355 ext 2866 (Monday to Thursday) or 01334 465706 (Friday) to make an appointment.
There is also a Contraception and Sexual Health Clinic at St Andrews Community Hospital (01334 465656) on Friday mornings from 9am to 12noon.
If you prefer to attend your Medical Practice, ask to see the Practice Nurse. You can also obtain the Morning After Pill there.
Q: I think I might be pregnant. Where can I go to find out?
A: At the Sexual Health Clinic, or speak to the Practice Nurse within your GP Practice, located within the St Andrews Community Hospital.
