Dentist

Q:  Help.  I have toothache and need to find a Dentist quickly.

A:  If you are not registered with a dentist, you are free to contact any dentist and ask for an urgent appointment, but the dentist does not have to give you one. For information on dentists in the area see NHS24

The Dental Hospital, 2 Park Place, Dundee, (01382 635971) will provide emergency treatment from 8.45 - 15.00 on weekdays, but you must arrive before 14.00 to be guaranteed to be seen.

If you are in significant pain and it is out of working hours then call NHS24 for further advice and information.

Q:  Are there NHS dentists available in St Andrews?

A:  There are currently 2 practices offering NHS treatment- one in St Andrews and one in Cupar. It is advisable to register as early as possible, as spaces may be limited due to the large number of students. Once accepted as an NHS patient you will remain so for as long as you attend regularly and for as long as you are a student. Being an NHS patient does NOT limit the choices of treatment available to you and if required or requested, private treatments such as the "tooth coloured fillings" could be done in conjunction with NHS treatment.

Two local dental practices are now offering NHS dental care to students:

Inchcape Dental Practice
4 St Mary's Place
St Andrews (opposite the Students' Union, behind the Grill House Restaurant)
01334 473 237
Please take your student id card with you when registering or attending for an appointment

Margaret Martin Dental Practice (PDF, 87 KB), 17 Kirkgate, Cupar.
