Details of the examination diets
All matriculated students are entered automatically for the December and May degree examination diets.
Dates of examination diets are as follows:
December diet 2012
- Monday 10 December - Thursday 20 December 2012
- Provisional timetable published week commencing Monday 29 October 2012
- Confirmed timetable published week commencing Monday 5 November 2012
IMPORTANT: Students are required to make themselves available in St Andrews for the full duration of the December and May Examination Diets, regardless of when their own exams take place. The last day of the examination diet is kept as a contingency day. Should the University be required to use this contingency day, it is important that students have not already left St Andrews.
Exam timetable
For all Diets, students are reminded of the importance of checking the provisional timetable carefully. Whilst every effort is made by Schools and the Examinations Office to prevent timetable clashes, these can occasionally occur. Where such a clash is identified, students should contact the Examinations Office as a matter of urgency.
All examination timetables are published via the web only.
Individual personal examination timetables can also be downloaded from iSaint.
Reassessment exam diet (August)
Registration for the reassessment exam diet
Those students who are offered the opportunity to take re-sit examinations and/or deferred assessments at the August (Reassessment) Diet must register individually in advance for the diet, via the online registration facility.
All students eligible for resit or deferred exams will be contacted individually once the results of the May examinations are available with further information about the registration process.
Reassessment fees
Where a re-sit examination is being taken, a fee is payable at the time of registration - details are given below. Students sitting deferred examinations as part of the Reassessment Diet must also register in advance, but will not be liable for a fee.
Reassessment fees for 2012 are £20 flat registration fee, plus
- £150 flat fee for each MD (Medical) module, or
- £5 fee for every credit registered
Absence from examinations
Absence from examinations due to illness should be reported to the Examinations Office IMMEDIATELY when you know you will be unable to sit an examination. This should then be followed up by completion of a self certificate of absence via e-Vision and, if necessary, a medical certificate.
